I am having a gun built and need to ship a HK Sear in a pack. To the smith… I am a little worried about shipping a $45,000 object via the USPS Registered mail… I had to go to 3 different post offices before they would accept the last time I shipped a rifle.. it was a monster pain in the butt.

Any suggestions?

Make it a mini vacation and drive it to the 'smith. No worries about being "lost" in shipping. Take the whole rifle and check function when job is complete. Win/win.
This. Any smith worth his salt can put a full auto trigger in a firearm. I wouldn't mail something like that for nothing. I would find a Smith that has the full works of lathes, CNC machines and all the works. This means he knows his stuff. At least the ones I know that are truly dynamic at his craft. That doesn't mean someone that doesn't have all that stuff can't do it. Hell I am just a old car mechanic and I could do it so there are plenty who can. I would start with cmshoot cmshoot .I would trust his gunsmithing skills fully and I usually don't let anybody work on my stuff. I would drive for hours to hand a gunsmith something like that rather that trust those shippers. I had a couple of my friends that work for UPS in the sorting department where the boxes come off of the rollers and they stack them in the truck. I say stack them but they said they literally heaved them into the truck. Especially the ones that said fragile. And they told me stories that made me cringe. I know how those employees treat packages. Shipping a $1,000 gun with insurance is one thing but a $45,000 item no way in Hades!
