black Bear in Macon and several south Ga counties. Also in Tates Hell near St.George Is Fla.
That's crazy. I had no idea.
Been seeing small black bear in Walnut Creek in East Macon since the late 1970's.

This "recent range/map b" range is seriously under represented. Lol at none in Texas. There are plenty!
I grew up in Upstate SC, near your old stomping grounds. Bear were in NC. I guess I just internalized that they were "mountain animals."
not very factual.... lot of black bear further east in Va. And north Ga is ridiculous as they range more south than that map. But to be fair I don't know when that data was collected. Probably shows no evidence of possum on the halfshell in Stockbridge either
