This thread is Fuddlore at its finest. Call any wildlife biologist in the world and they’ll tell you there is no such thing as a black puma concolor.

He was and is an idiot. Big cats have been sited all over these parts and also in Florida. It seems logical that they would have moved into Georgia looking for new land to hunt and call their own. As the population grows in Florida it's completely natural for younger cats to venture out of their normal hunting grounds for land that is unoccupied with larger numbers of food sources. People have no clue when it comes to the natural order of things. Back in the 70's sightings were few and far between here in Virginia. Now they are growing in numbers and seen all the time.YES YOU PROBABLY DID SEE ONE.
I am originally from the Stilson/Leefield area down between Go-Bar and Woodward's landing, if that tells you anything.
I saw one walk through the field early one morning, with the fence as direct contrast to size because it was right next to it. Pretty well matches your description. This was around 1999, but there's one jackhole round these parts who called me a liar about it.
Back between 2010-2015 a bear mauled and lady in here back yard in the suburbs of Atlanta. My buddy lives in Big Canoe and he sees them all the time. Bears are opportunist and will go where food is easy to find. Garbage is a big draw for them. My guess is that bear was there to ravage some garbage cans and the lady was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Dang thing bit her on the skull. Ouch!A few years ago an individual possessed several illegal animals just north of Grantville on his homestead. Such as a bear, cougar, tiger, and monkeys.
I know when authorities were moving in, the animals were released off the property and roamed for a while.
Not a month later and a woman’s dog was taken off the leash in Palmetto by a big cat but the story got brushed off. I know the majority of the wild animals were caught but not all of them.
A bear was sighted near downtown Newnan around that time too.
A big cat was killed in Troup county before all this but was found to be an escaped captive species. I want to say the hunter who shot it got into big trouble too
Big ass black cats absolutely exist in North America. No doubt. It’s maybe hair splitting but they’re not panthers.Posting this on a public forum I was well aware beforehand that there would be adamant deniers. I never bought into the whole black panther thing until yesterday at 11:15 AM. I mean shoot, we hardly know what's in our oceans. I don't really buy anything the government is going to say about whether a black cat exists in the wild or not. We barely trust our government as it is, so why are we suddenly sticking to our guns about the government's assessment of big cats in this state?
Panther or not who knows. What I know is that I saw a big fat muscular black cat. I named the thread "Black Panther Sighting" because that's what the urban legend is called.Big ass black cats absolutely exist in North America. No doubt. It’s maybe hair splitting but they’re not panthers.
It has nothing to do with the .gov. It’s science. There is no such thing as a black puma concolor. Could you have seen a dark mountain lion? Sure. Florida has them and they travel. Could you have seen a black panthera onca? Possibly. Long way from Central America though. Could you have seen a black puma concolor? No. They don’t freakin exist. Same as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. No such thing.Posting this on a public forum I was well aware beforehand that there would be adamant deniers. Hit the nail on the head with “urban legend.”Panther or not who knows. What I know is that I saw a big fat muscular black cat. I named the thread "Black Panther Sighting" because that's what the urban legend is called.
