Get a .36; the .32 is notably harder to maintain, especially with a 42" barrel

I think so; not to mention the oops! factor (loose patch, stuck ball, etc.) is harder to deal with.
I like shooting them but if there was a way to clean them that didn't take 1 1/2 hours I would shot more
I have shot 8 shots in an hour.....LOL...
just shot my BP Hawkens today. Love shooting it but cleaning after is definitely a chore. Nice that the barrel comes off easy. Couldnot find a flintlock for a reasonable price but, cap is easy. Since I got my cherry popped I plan on being a bit more prepared next trip.
