Interesting the pattern that's apparent after the skin stretches a bit.

That was my first thought kinda like stretch marks on the skin

My view, that is a Gray Ratsnake. Known to climb trees and eat eggs out of bird nest. Once pulled one out
of a wood duck box, snake had close to ten eggs in it. Yes, let the snake go.

It was probably one of these black racers (Coluber Constrictor) which frequent shrubs and trees hunting whatever prey they can catch or maybe a black king snake.View attachment 3374483

It may have also been an Indigo snake which is federally protected.

From your photos, it looks like its getting ready to molt and get a new skin.

It’s a Black Rat Snake, Pantherophis obsoletus.
