Blaming entertainment

Why not recognise mental illness and treat it ,control it, and do not be ashamed to admit it exists. All or most all of these killings in schools could have been stopped if it was not for politcal correctness. When we put politicians in politics for like, this is what we get. No one wants to address the problem when it is so obvious.

Not be ashamed of mental illness? This is a country that hides their old and experienced in nursing homes.

We are all about appearances.

That's an apples to oranges comparison. Not many people can afford to take off work completely to take care of an elderly parent that needs 24/7 care. Can you? Because I sure can't.

I agree with the argument that Movies and Games can numb a man/kids mind to killing, the more they kill, on most 1st person shooter games, the more they kill, the more points they get so that in itself makes killing look like a good thing. Then, as much as I like em muyself, some mof the movies out now do the same, glorify killing.I got addicted to America's Army for a while and was wasting several hours a day and ,most of the other players were kids that had never held an M4, but to vbe able to plat that game each player must first attendthe virtual "boot Camp", where they also must pass the weapons qualification course and learn enough about the virtual M4 to pick up a real one and hit targets, same as the game required. So in my mind there is a bit of Monkey see, Monkey do, mentality involved with all these senseless killings, so if they want to ban guns, then they should also ban the damn games that promote killing and cut back on the amout of gore in thge movies, it is all tied together.I also agree with "The only thing that will stop bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun"

I agree, mental illness is treated like a weakness. There is defiinitely a stigma attached to it. Even the most even keeled, laid back, sane folks on the planet can benefit from counseling, etc. I honestly believe that the typical American lifestyle consisting of poor diet, and too little exercise contribut greatly to mental health issues. I'm a runner, and I do it for physical as well as mental benefits. Nothing turns my attitude, and outlook on life around like a quick 5 miler.

I have a German friend here that is a pychologist, and he said one of the first things he prescribes for all of his patients is an increase in physical activity. That alone usually has a much greater impact than any medication ever could, and offers the obvious physical benefits as well.

I definitely see a link between obesity and mental health issues.

I think a large difference is the type of violence. When I was a kid action shows on tv were knight rider, macguyver, and the A-team. Even the A-team had a lot of shooting but no one getting shot. But I also watched movies, but most of them were about war which separated the violence from everyday life.

Now though, action shows have so much killing in everyday type places and violent movies are less about wars and more about violence in normally peaceful places and glorifying criminals.

I think one thing that should be severely changed with violent media is the news. Kids watching the news see so much violence that action movies can't even keep up.

But then again I'm at the end of my shift and exhausted so none I this may make any sense
