Hey ODT, got a BM-59 from James River Armory. Lovely rifle. Im just having a issue with a oversprayed chamber. It's causing the extractor to rip at the case heads.

Making for extraction failures. I was going to have Bill Norris at Small Arms Restoration polish the chamber for me. Unfortunately, that great man has passed away.

So, now I'm in need of a gunsmith for surplus rifles!

Parkerizing isn’t a spray. It’s a heated chemical bath that a firearm, or its parts, or submerged in, usually for 45 minutes or so.

A barrel will be plugged at both ends so the parkerizing solution doesn’t get into the chamber or bore.

Was it not plugged properly and solution leaked in, or was it sprayed with something else?

As an aside, that's quite damning if it's true - JRA screwing up like that and then QA not catching it.

It's not like they're selling cheap ARs.

I'm more then inclined to trust Bill in that observation. I was hoping the rifle i got wouldn't have any issues since the one I got had the new receivers.
