Boat work needed!

My coupler was rubber, so I smelled burned rubber smell/smoke when I spun my prop. had a new hub pressed in for like $35.

The rubber on the hub which is usually pressed into the center of the prop assembly. It is designed to be the weak link so you don't damage other more expensive components if you hit something. The rubber breaks free and then the hub spins inside the prop when you give it gas. Thats the rubber burning smell. It melts as the hub spins. Mine started off like a bad clutch. Prop still spun but engine would rev and had a hard time going forward. Kept trying since I was several miles offshore, so then it eventually wouldn't spin at all. Motor rev'd high but little to no forward motion. Got towed in, pulled the prop, took it to a prop shop and they pressed in a new hub for $35.
