Somebody posted the sale at Midway USA but I couldn't find the post. They have Vortex Diamondback Tactical scopes 4-16×40 on sale for 199 bucks. Man you can't beat that with a 2×4. I am thinking of buying another one just because it's so dang cheap. That price at that magnification with a lifetime warranty is a perfect hunting / plinking scope. I am going to use one to replace the lower power Bushnell on my AR-10 until I save enough for real good unit for that rifle. I think I am going to try the Arken EP-5 model. A couple friends up here have them and they swear by those scopes. They have the 5-25×50 and love them. Anyway the Vortex will stand in until I move to the Arken and give it a whirl.

I have a Vortex Viper HS 2.5x10x44 on my hunting AR. It has served me well and has great light gathering ability early and late in the day. Most of the time I hunt on about 4.5-5 power, so I don't need the higher magnification that is an option.

That was my other option over the Arken but a higher magnification. That is still a few months out so I have time to research and hopefully get my hands on both and compare.

By the time you buy the Vortex and Arken you'll have spent enough to have bought Sightron or SWFA.
Well I am buying scopes for two different guns. I am just a range junkie so I don't need all that much scope. I looked through a Swarovski the other day and it was amazingly clear. There was a mountain about a mile away and you could see the trees in definition from that far away. The Ziess scope was the same way. Outstanding clear glass but that is what you get with a 1000 dollar plus scope. These boys around here don't play when it comes to there by hunting scopes. Bolt actions and high dollar scopes is the norm for the series hunting community. However, a couple of guys switched to Arken and do not regret the change. I wish I could get my hands on one and see what it's all about.
