I'm looking for a low power scope for my AR. Wish I could afford an ACOG but that is not in the budget. I'm not looking to spend more than $350 so what are y'all's thoughts on the Burris AR-332?

I think its a good bang for the buck. I had one AR with the burris and one with the ACOG. I liked the ACOG better, but not 4X the price better... My only negative on the Burris is the rectile size and clarity. If you have the brightness too high, it turns into one big a** dot. Lower the setting any you have a hard time seeing the mill dots within the ring. Other than that, great bang for the buck.

Love my 332. Glass is crystal clear. I used to bust pieces of clay pigeons at 100 yards with mine all day. Eye relief is good. I never had an trouble focusing my reticle. I had it in ars and a FAL and its held up fine.

Primary arms was selling an identical unit for $179, but they out of stock now. I emailed them and they said they will no longer be selling the 3x unit but in 90 days they will have a 4x unit. Its really bad timing for me because thats exactly what I wanted. With some of the negatives I've heard about the Burris unit (same negatives can be applied to the Primary Arms unit), I'll wait to see what Primary Arms comes up with for only 2/3 the price.

Here is a review of the Burris unit. http://www.locknloadblog.com/2012/01/burris-ar-332-tactical-prism-red-dot.html

Here is their reply to my email.

Hi Darren,

The 3x compact scope has been discontinued from our line. They are working a new version of the scope (I believe it will be 4x) but we have not heard any updated news on the specs on it. Make sure you follow our industry forum on AR15.com though as that is where most of the updates on it will appear first.

Thanks,

Brett

I have to wonder how they can have no idea what their new design specs will be. Are they at the mercy of the chinese making these things or what. They admitted on the ar15.com forum that their unit shares the same body as the Burris unit with the internals being different.

Having checked the Primary Arms forum on ar15.com, their version of the Burris 332 scope is going to have two options, a 2.5x magnification and a 4x. Both versions are going to have the ACSS reticle. Its another option to the Burris anyhow.
