Buyer Beware of Sky Guns International

Guess I'll throw my 2 cents here. I was in that part of the state last month, and had heard of Sky Guns, and wanted to check out their 'shop'. The address of the company is a house in a cookie-cutter subdivision. I know that happens from time to time with an FFL, but if you're an 07 FFL, how in the hell can you be building enough weapons to satisfy a gov contract in a one car garage. The whole thing felt fishy.

The following is speculation on my part. First, government agencies don't buy parts guns. Individual officers, sure. Skyguns may have an off site manufacturing facility. They have indicated that they turn raw blanks into barrels. Maybe they are an OEM manufacturer for other AR manufacturers? Who knows? But these scenarios aren't even close to being a supplier to entities like DOS, TSA, DEA, etc. as has been stated.

Secondly, look at the website. They claim to have a huge inventory. I'm seeing a pattern of potentially exaggerated claims developing here. Maybe I'm wrong, but the whole thing smells funny. In the other Skyguns thread, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But my original question remains, who exactly are we doing business with? Now a new question arises. Are they misleading potential buyers by representing themselves as something they are not in order to build a false reputation and dupe the uninformed? I'm not saying that they are, because I don't know the whole story. On the other hand, I think it's time for them to substantiate their claims.

I've said it before, but it probably bears repeating because my questions will be taken by some as an attack on Skyguns. I DO NOT have an axe to grind here. I have not done business with Skyguns in the past. However, as I've watched this evolve, I have developed some real concerns about Skyguns business practices. I'm only asking these questions in an effort to get to the truth and potentially prevent others from being taken advantage of or misled in the future. According to their own posts, they won't be selling more guns commercially any time soon, so maybe this is all a moot point. I guess they cashed in on the panic and are moving on back to their "core" business.

Often the problem with smalltime shops is they don't have the money to refund because it is already spent.

This may be the heart of the issue. They've stated that they "opened" up 500 slots for commercial sale during the panic. It's very likely that they had an order to fill (barrels?), but it was less than the minimum order size for the blanks or other parts. As a result, they may have opted to sell the excess commercially knowing that they could move product during the panic.

Again, this is speculation. We don't actually know if they actually produce barrels or not. They have led us to believe this though.

"Yeah.....so I'm going to go ahead and need you to pay me 15% of an order we never filled"

I ordered a couple BCGs from jay on gunbroker with no issue.

I later ordered front and back MBUS and received the fake air-soft ones in the brown box. I emailed him and he said he would refund but I threw away the box inadvertently so never bothered to send them back.

What did you pay for the BCG's and what were their specs?

Selling airsoft parts as the real deal is just unacceptable.

It is criminal if they represented them as firearms quality and you have to wonder how many people would not know the difference. You also have to question the quality of a rifle build if the company has airsoft components laying around.

Based on the example we saw here in another thread where a gun was assembled with a mismatched barrel extension and receiver, I've already got questions about the quality of the builds. My larger concern at this point is the truthfulness of their other claims.
