Buying an SBR from an Individual

form 4. you don't need a trust or an attorney.
According to Ryan Cleckner a firearms attorney and former Vice president of Remington firearms and outdoors it is easier to to become a FFL than to do a form 4 which can take several months to a year to get approved. He is available by email for any questions pertaining a Form 4 or a FFL. An FFL application is much easier and quicker. Make sure to research the subject thoroughly with qualified personnel before proceeding.

If it were me I would want to be totally versed in the process before proceeding. This was explained by John Pierce the man up here that handles these types of cases. The form 4 is just the application. It's isn't the one all do all. In most cases fingerprints need to be given and in some cases a reference from a local law enforcement official can be required as well. As John Pierce said it can get extremely complicated and lengthy. I would email Ryan Cleckner for any further recommendations. A short email to him will make sure you have the full details on each process, the FFL and the Form 4. After that make up your mind on which would be the easiest and quickest way to handle this.

The post above is what I am getting ready to do to get my FFL. I figure any help that would improve and simplify the process is worth it.

Just an option, good luck and God bless.

Anytime ANYONE buys a suppressor or a factory SBR they do a form 4. They have been coming back fast.

My best friend got a SBR at a local gun shop in Dawsonville. Used a Sig Sauer spear 6.8×51 or 277 Fury. Took him 5 months to get his back

He just got not more that a month ago or less. He has been talking about it forever. I don't know the exact place but I can find out. They start with a Sig Speer and SBR it. Took them a while to perfect it from what I understand. They came up with a combo that works. If it's anything like the 6.8 spc ll it might not suffer from then shorter barrel but I am not sure. They round is a total different animal .He had already bought a factory Sig Speer in 7.62×51 and a 277 Fury. So the short barrel gun will be his third Sig Speer. One day he walked in to check in his SBR snf they had two factory Sig Speer. He bought them both. So now he has two 6.8×51 rifles and one 7.62× 51 jobs. His wife owns the State Farm agency in Dawsonville and he spends like it. She started her own and then the other Agent near them retired and they took over his book of business. Mucho dinero!!

I have had form 4s take a year...they are currently taking a week.
Maybe this inflation has put a muffler on big ticket items and that's why it's so short now. Who knows for sure how long it can take unless they question something on the form.

Go for it and just see. I would somehow try to find some way to guarantee that you will get the rifle if something happens like mentioned in a earlier post. If I wanted one bad enough I would do what I had to to get it done. 👍
