Pleasant Hill City Council voted Monday to pay $400,000 to the National Shooting Sports Foundation and City Arms East.

A three-year legal battle...

Too bad the elected officials who attempted this are not held to a measure of accountability for this misdeed.

That's good. But... it shows that anti-gunners can try to ban lawful trade in firearms in various ways, not just through traditional 'gun control' methods.

Apparently, and I have not studied this case at all, the only reason Pleasant Hill lost was because of how they passed this law, and when they set it to take effect.

Had they debated it and passed it properly, and given non-compliant businesses a long enough period of time to comply (or just grandfathered them in, but with the condition that they don't grow any larger than they had been when the ordinance took effect), would the City have lost?

California has no state-level preemption of gun control. In fact, their constitution specifically allows each City and County to have laws regarding weapons.
