Can one just buy complete uppers and change calibers?

Are the uppers you’re looking at a Type 2? Do they come with a headspaced bolt/BCG?

Some I have been looking at are Type 2 and others are not. I stumbled across Bear Creek Arsenal and they are a US Company and made in US and have great reviews and very reasonable priced.

I have a Diamondback 300 blackout. Can I take the upper off and put the complete upper for a 6.5 grendel on there?

I've never fully separated my upper and lower receivers on any of my AR guns.
I pop the back pin all the time to field strip them for cleaning, but I've never removed the front pin. How easy is that, and is there a quick detachable option to use in the field with no tools-- or at least no screwdrivers?

Maybe a coin and or the tip of a cartridge could be the only tools required?

Thats how l clean mine as well. I can pull my front pin with my hand though.

Well go ahead and take the plunge. Pop that pivot pin out. It can be very liberating.:D

The only person I would recommend BCA to is the next guy that wants to shoot at me.

To be honest I don't really know who makes a decent Grendel upper these days. It seems that many manufacturers have dropped that particular chambering from their line-up. I have to agree with cmshoot though on BCA. I would steer clear.

Put the upper together yourself. Buy a good Type 2 barrel and a headspaced bolt or BCG. Companies like Sons Of Liberty Gun Works offer a 16” 6.5G barrel, and will match a BCG or bolt to it for you. That’s a rock solid barrel that’s a proven performer, with a top notch BCG.

Companies like Ballistic Advantage and Odin Works also offer a barrel/BCG combo, although I’m not a fan of nitrided BCG’s, which they both come with. Most folks don’t have an issue with them.

Any standard AR15-type upper should work on your DB AR15 lower.
