Can you?

You can not hunt over bait.... you can trap the hog with bait in the trap....and then shot the hog in the trap.....

From the reg on hog hunting......

PRIVATE LANDS No closed season; no limit. Feral hogs may be hunted at night with a light, which is carried, on the person, affixed to a
helmet or hat, or part of a belt system worn by a hunter. No hunting over bait or from a vehicle. A resident Hunting License is required
to hunt feral hogs for all resident hunters 16 years old or older, except when hunting on land owned by them or their immediate family
(blood or dependent relationship) residing in the same household. Non-residents must meet non-resident license requirements. Contact
the Game Management office nearest you for more information (see page 4).

Yep. Have to get the Permit first. I am in the process of doing so myself. The office I need to go to is a bit away from the house. Waiting on a day I can get out there to give them my permit and then I think they come look at the property to see how bad it is getting tore up. I guess it depends on how busy DNR is that day.

If hogs are so plentiful that you need a permit to eradicate them, why do you need bait?

Have you ever hunted hogs in the summer time? Just curious because its not an easy task. These thick southern woods that the hogs love are horrible for hog hunting with anything but dogs this time of year. They are impossible to predict without some type of food source, and corn works best :D.

Yep,hunted and trapped them in the summer.I will agree that you need corn to get them to go in the trap.As for huntin`,can`t see the difference.I stalk with the wind in my face.Biggest problem in the summer is gnats and skeeters.
