Canning jars

Although it maybe a hit or miss situation, you might want to try checking the 2nd hand stores (goodwill, restore, etc.). There have been times when I went there and found anywhere from 1 or 2 to several boxes of rings/lids & even boxes of new jars. Another way my mother/grandmothers used to get by / make do, was to use any jar with that pop up button(?) on the lid (i.e. pickle/salsa/etc. jars). Just be sure if you use the old pickle jars that you always check the lid for that button(?), won't work without according to my mother/grandmothers. Good luck!

Check the Dollar Tree store, et al. Sometimes they will order them to deliver to the store for free.
I did that last year to the one in Oakwood. They were about $1 per large jar with lid.

Jars are pretty easy to find. The trouble this year was finding new lids for your old jars. So take this advice... buy every pack of lids you can find. Oh, and save your bands. My wife would throw away the bands with the old lids until I caught her

Being a horder...I added Ball lids to my hord list last year, after talking to a friend....I buy all I can find, and look when I'm in any place that may have them.....I've never canned....BUT I might one day, and..I will have lids...

I have a case of 12 Ball Quart jars still in shrink wrap. Corner opened and 3 jars don't have lids. I found them in my garage - don't know where they came from. I was going to take to Goodwill but just haven't done it yet. If anyone wants them (free) I will provide my address in DM. Live in Roswell/Alpharetta area.

I've seen them in Kroger and Ingles in the last week. Another piece of advice: When your jars seal and cool, remove and wash the bands right then. Don't leave them on the jar to rust in place. Everyone is right on the lids, buy them when you can get them and keep about a 3 year supply. Supposedly they do go bad at some point.

Same advise I have been given, to remove the bands.
