I'm looking for feedback on a bit of an internal struggle: the age-old Eotech vs Aimpoint.

The optic will be going on an 11" Lantac in 5.56 (and may convert to 9" 300BLK). It will be a weapon that is the "go-to" - home & personal defense, mobile, used for ranges & training, etc.
I would like to have this on a unity FAST mount (if they ever come back in stock) with a magnifier, so Eotechs newly announced 5x mag sounds really appealing.

So my options, as i see them, are -

Eotech
EXPS 2/3 on FAST Riser w/ G45 5x magnifier on Unity FAST FTC (or back to the 3x G33 if G45 bombs when released)
This setup seems ideal to me, never having run it before (hah). Pieces seem quite complimentary - holographic so reticle will still stay same size. Known for fast acquisition, which is the main goal, right? large window, small bezel for maximum visibility. Seems like the right move. Or is it?
fuzzy which is annoying, though honestly i have never run an Eotech with a magnifier so its a new thing for me.

Aimpoint
Comp m5 (i think? other options available) on FAST Micro Mount w/ magnifier (cheap 3x, 3x, or 6x) on Unity FAST FTC.
More expensive option, by a large margin. More crisp dot. I don't have as solid of a vision for this option, but that is out of ignorance which is the crux of my hesitation. I simply don't know enough and am wondering if this is worth considering over the Eotech. These are popular for a reason, should I consider going this route and delve into the topic?

Thoughts? Opinions? Advice?

Thanks in advance,

K

Go to the range, meet some folks that run both and try them out. Youll find that people either love or hate either option. You'll know when you play with one which one suits you, hopefully. Personally, an Eotech at the range is a rare sight, but then again quality optics are getting harder and harder to see in the wild outside the training grounds. The two Eotech guys I know tell me the hold offs for up close and personal are simple with that option. You will be fine with either choice as far as quality goes. I don't prefer eotech because its bulky, I'm an Aimpoint fan, either the PRO or the H1. You cant go wrong with a MRO from Trijicon either. And its always suggested to have iron sights on a fighting gun, in addition to the optic. Good luck, you'll probably need it.
