Can't Decide: Eotech or Aimpoint

It sounds like I need do do some more reading about the Aimpoint options. I was honestly not expecting this, considering the Eotech image - used in war, military default, etc etc.

I have an Aimpoint PRO. Its great, but a bit bulky and heavy and not crisp enough for a magnifier, from what I have read. It is what will live on the new blaster until a final decision is made.

I have several Aimpoint-specific questions
2 MOA dots, so with a 3x magnifier its a 6 MOA dot, with their 6x magnifier its 18 MOA...this concept alone kind of defeats the purpose of the higher magnification so the 3x is where I'll have to stay. Honestly this was the biggest draw of the Eotech, no aiming consequence for higher magnification.
The options for the mount are: H1, H2, T1, T2, CompM5
Thoughts on these?

in the 3x magnification range we have the 3XC (~$270) and the 3XMAG-1 (~$760). Is the 2.8X cost worth it?

I just got an Eotech EXPS and love it compared to my Aimpoint Pro. Reticle is hella fast. A lot of eotech issues come with from the 5 series. I rarely hear any complaints about the XPS and EXPS line aside from battery life which is to be expected when you consider what they are projecting vs a dot

I have 3 Aimpoint pros and you can’t beat them ! Never a problem! We have probably 30 Aimpoint pros 10’avogs and 15 Eotechs at work ! Out of all we have 2 Eotechs that are still working and 13 in a box in armory marked bad do not issue! We will he replacing the other 2 with Aimpoints next year !

Have both an Aimpoint and an Eotech. The Eotech is definitely faster up close, but the Aimpoint's battery life is MUCH better. The incident Mr. Booshie references may have been with an older Eotech before the upgrades as the post had a 2017 date. I sent my 2010 EXPS 2.2 in to Eotech and for $78 they replaced everything but the hood and rail mount to bring it up to current production specs. This being said, if you're only going to have one, the Aimpoint T2's size, weight and battery life is tough to beat.

I've run both an eotech 512 and an aimpoint micro t1. No first hand experience with other eotechs. I never saw an eotech issued when I was in the Army, but I got out 10 years ago. At that time, Aimpoint Comp M2 or M4 was standard issue. The only other optics I personally saw being issued at that time were an occasional Acog and the Elcan optics for the LMGs.

Battery life on Aimpoints are far superior to eotech and I never liked the push buttons on the eotechs. Eotech has had some known reliabilty issues in the past, no idea if they still do, but it would be a concern for me.

This video sold me on Aimpoint Micros a few years ago. Any decent AR should have survived the tests, but I highly doubt most eotechs would have made it through half of it.

I say Aimpoint Micro for reasons stated: awesome battery life, tough as nails, small and light. Love the Eotech reticle but it’s always fuzzy to me.

Now, this is just my opinion but a magnifier kinda defeats the purpose. Adds bulk and expense for not much gain as I see it (3x and a bigger dot isn’t gonna make it a long range gun by any stretch).

If you’re set on magnification, I’d just go with a LPVO. Lots of good options with true 1x plus more magnification and they won’t weigh anymore than a dot/magnifier combo.

You're definitely onto something with the Trijicon MRO HD. Had no idea that anyone (other than Holosun) was replicating the "donut of death". That looks awesome!

The newer EOTechs are solid (XPS/EXPS) models have been addressed from the prior bugs. Aimpoints are still the most reliable optics and have vastly better battery life. But I prefer the Eotech for the larger window. To me it seems faster. I don’t like the “tube effect” aimpoints give
