Cars And Trucks On Ice----Be Careful Out There

Dad grew up in N.H. so more experience with slick driving
than the Tarheels we grew up with. Had a pretty good snow
in Raleigh so a few of us neighborhood kids walked 5-6 blocks
to the big steep hill to watch the cars trying to make it over the
top. Could hear the tires churning before we even go there.
Cars stranded both sides at various levels with others still trying.
Then we see our family sedan approaching slowly and stop to
appraise the situation. It was dad going to daycare to p/u
youngest brother. This was a 1965 Ford Custom (stripped Galaxie)
with 240 6 cyl. and 3 on the tree. Dad started his approach and
made his way up the hill w/o tire spin and just enough speed to
make it over the top and down the other side. Seeing this the
other drivers got back in their cars to try again w/o success.
