So Saturday I went to the gun show with a few firearms to sell for some folks. I was pretty darn shocked with prices even with the latest news about the dying proposed ban. Although I picked up a few things (FSB for $10, some detent springs and crush washers $6, and 500 55gr FMJ BT bullets $69), the show was filled with CRAZY pricing. 1 table had 62gr green tip $120 for 100rds!!!!! AR's were priced from $1,300(walk arounds) to $2,600 (dealer) for optics ready! Most were around $1,800-1,900 The most absurd was a Barret 82A1 Just the rifle and no optics for $11,999. Pmags from $50-65each, Glock mags from $45-$75each.
None of the rifles I took with me sold. I watched a guy carry around a WASR with 2 mags + 500 rounds for $900 and had no takers. WASR's at dealer tables were $999-$1600 so i dont think he was unreasonably priced at all (even pre crazy that wasnt an awful price). My friend brought up a point about Christmas bills wiping everyone out, and people awaiting their tax refunds. Perhaps this was a big part of the seemingly slow private sales. I did notice a descent volume of card purchases with dealers but not many personal cash transactions. Many of the value series pistol got snatched up quick (Sigma's, XDM, Taurus semi auto's) I really hope that this is a start of the panic decline and the re stocking of what use to be common items.
I went back today and saw many of the overpriced items with new lower pricing, and alot more firearms being purchased. I hope the dealers noticed the dying panic and started to lower their expectations. I know I cannot wait until the panic subsides and items become stocked again!
