Hi,

I am a casual shooter and I live in the North Fulton area.

While I do regularly shoot at ranges in the area, I much prefer to shoot outdoors where there is little/no restriction on firearm types or ammunition used.

My real preference is to shoot on private land with suitable distance and safe backdrops (berms or gullies) that allow for rifles. I also take comfort in knowing any/all neighbors around don't have a problem with the owner shooting on his/her land.

With all that said, does anyone here have or know of private land - Outside of the Metro Atlanta - and owners who would be willing to allow me (and perhaps a friend or two) to come and shoot occasionally?

I would certainly provide for the owners to shoot if they wanted to, or consider some sort of compensation that is agreeable to all of us.

This is for a piece of private land - not an established range.

Thanks for any feedback or suggestions.

I wish you the best of luck and I mean it, because it has gotten more and more difficult over the years to find a piece of property to shoot on.

Here in Forsyth county, which use to be the sticks in 77, it's about impossible to find a place with any distance.

I gave up and joined an established outdoor range and I've never regretted it.

Good luck in your search!

You are certainly correct, used to be a member there 80'S- 1998, bench rest, moved further east and 2.5 hr one way we let our membership go. Mr. REIBER, used to live on the property, and was RO, he was a hard guy on the line however he was always fair..

Miss RBGC, however just to far to go now...

Yea Mr. Rieber passed a few years back.
He never had a problem with me, but I always wear my Marine cover, so he knew I'd been around.

I heard another member say he saw him shoot 25 in a row twice, at age 95 on skeet and he make it look easy.
I spoke very little with him. He was a college professor and a very intelligent guy, I understand.
His son Bobby (not a young man himself) still lives on the property.
I'm there often, just 15 minutes away.....

I've contemplated buying some land, (or with a SMALL group), for a modest range east - south east of Snellville, I need to do some more research.

I carry $1.3 million in professional liability insurance that covers me, my Instructors, and our students on any property I'm on. If I were going to allow a stranger to shoot on my property, I'd require something similar, at a minimum.
