So, honest question out of curiosity, why do some classified posters specify "peak at CCW" in their listing(s)? Is this just a CYA clause? Do you really care? I can see either side legally and morally, but I'm wanting some clarity in understanding instead of assumption.

Didn't really question it until after the passing into law full permitless carry in 2022.

Please reply honestly as I just want to understand.

It will hopefully weed out any dubious characters. Someone with a permit has at least passed a cursory background check.
If I'm selling to someone with a good rating and some history on the website then it's just a formality in the ad.
Someone new with no references then I might be inclined to ask for it.
I usually put it in my ads but I've never actually asked to see it because I only deal with established members with positive feedback when it comes to firearms.

That is understandable, but what would you say is a minimum for history/ feedback. Do you message that judgement call based on tone in messages or in the meetup, or just statistics?

Again not judging one way or another.

It’s an effort to avoid the shadiest people, I think.

ETA - I’ve been contacted by a person who made me uneasy and cussed me because I had a ccw license requirement in the ad for a pistol. Just seemed like a shady character to begin with. I don’t think I would worry about seeing it in many cases, but I would put it in the ad anyway.

Honestly I just check and see if they've done business with anyone I know or trust.
I've only turned down a deal one time and that's because when the want to be buyer (newbe) contacted me he stated that he had his permit but as soon as we met without prompting he admitted that he didn't.
I immediately called off the deal because if someone would lie about something like that then I would consider them untrustworthy.

For sure in the situation. If they're willing to lie about something once, they're aiming to lie twice. While odus is on the buyer it is best to not chance it.

I check the potential buyers feedback and postings. No minimum amount on feedback I have done deals with zero feedback new members. If the tone is shady or misleading I'll pass on the deal. That goes for both buying and selling.

When I used to work the gun shows questionable people would want to buy something. If I did not feel good about selling to an individual I'd ask to see their license. Then pretty much they'd decide they weren't interested in the item. In my case on purchasing I don't mind showing my license or CCW. But I'll not sign anything or show you my address on license or CCW.

Depending on how things go I may show my permit. They arent anyone to valiadate anything on my end so at times i skip right over those that need such things as full address or me signing anything.

As someone who own lots of SBR’s, cans, etc I dont feel the need to validate myself to closet agents lol.

I usually don't worry about rifles or full-size shotguns, but I usually include it in an ad for handguns these days if the gun is anything that could be 'gangsta'.

I got burned several years ago when I sold a Glock 19 to a guy who seemed decent, but didn't have a CWL. He said he had applied and it turned out that later on he did get one.

About a year later I got a call from a postal inspector asking about the gun. All very above-board and no issues on my side, but it turned out that this kid was buying guns here and mailing them to a buddy in CA to sell on the street.

That kind of shows why asking for a CWL doesn't always work as well. Lots of folks on here sold him guns because he did have one later on in his 'career'.
