Cerakote Durability Issues

My most intricate Cerakote jobs were $300 max. Single colors were about $100 to $150.
That's only because you get the sexy man discount. I gotta control my heart rate when you're in the shop and it affects my better judgment in pricing.

Wasn’t going to comment on the buffer tube , but , now that it’s been brought up . It very much appears , as the angles all line up , that they were just to lazy to take the buttstock off . I guess get the black part of the camo there on the cheap .

STOP !!! ENOUGH !!! Nonliberal is the sexy man on ODT !!! Not around much anymore , but he’s the man !

This is really helpful feedback, y’all. I’m disappointed that a veteran owned local shop would charge me 40% over market rate for something like this, but that’s not even my primary concern. After paying $1150 for two rifles and waiting a month for it to get done, the gun not firing and the cerakote being soft is pretty infuriating. I’m a patient guy, but I’m pretty upset. They haven’t answered their phone or called me back today, either.

I haven’t had a gun cerakoted before but I have had factory cerakote before and it’s much harder. I also worked in industrial coatings for some time, so I’m familiar with harness ratings. This cerakote feels chalky and I know something isn’t right. I’m really hopeful they do what’s right and redo it (and maybe refund some of my money).

I don't want to disparage another business. But looking at the fact they sprayed your brace on the buffer tube just doesn't make any sense. Major red flag. That's not how a proper Cerakote job is done. Each part should be completely disassembled and sprayed individually. It makes me wonder if they even disassembled everything else?

On top of the other issues you're experiencing. Personally I wouldn't let them work on it again. I'd just respectfully express your disappointment, demonstrate the softness and how easily it scratches, and request a full refund. They might not agree, but it's what would be right and you're not wrong to request it.
