So far comcast isn't looking too good. They don't even recognize my address in their database. It says its available but it kicks me out when trying to sign up. I've now been referred to their 1800#. Looks like I'll get to know their CS upfront.

I have never seen comcast, charter, or cox service the same area as the other. Actually, I have never seen two cable companies in the same area. If Charter is available, more than likely Comcast is not.

Gotcha. Thats the way its looking. Should I even bother asking for them to wave the "wifi activation fee" of $40? Do these people barter at all or is my only retaliation to ask for a bos?

Never heard of a wifi activation fee. Can't help you there. I deal with their business class people as I deal with them for work.

If you're tech savvy don't pay it. Chances are the modem is capable of Wi-Fi, it's just deactivated.

True.

Although the guys to service either one of them are contractors that service both companies. The equipment is the same, one company just has rights to each service area of the lines. None of them are great, and it boils down to who you want to deal with over the phone if you have issues that cannot be resolved in the field.

1. Almost all of ga will be Comcast only sometime next year (except Columbus area I believe)
2. Charter will not provision a modem that you buy somewhere else, you have to have theirs.
3. Get their modem buy your own standalone router, its easy to set yourself and you don't pay the activation fee.
4. Cs sucks across the board. Doesn't mater which provider it is.

So is comcast buying out charter? My dad uses a belkin router. Anything I should know before buying one?

I can't wait for Google Fiber.

Game changer of sho

Google fiber could actually compete since they are exempt from the current contracts with cable providers like comcast vs charter from my understanding.
