Thank you! You and your wife have a very special Holiday season.Congratulations, Greg. Have a merry Christmas
They always have. The parts need a good deal of fitting but that's just the game with 1911's. It will be a great gun with some elbow grease.Hope it works out well for you.
It's not what it starts out to be with a Taurus 1911. It's what you end up with after the upgrades that speaks to me. I have done a few PT1911's, A Remington R1 Hunter 10 mm long slide and a Tisas one as well. I shouldn't have sold that Tisas. That gun turned out sweet after I was done. From replacing the vital internals to peeing the slide rails. Peening slide rails only if it is worn and develops a bit of play between the frame and slide. It will do the trick for all I need it for. I like the PT1911 not for what it is from the factory but the potential that gun possess. The forged frame, slide and hammer forged barrel is all I am concerned with and sets the stage for the rebuild. To tell you the truth it was the fact I already know how to fool with this gun and the low price is why I chose it. I like a gun much better if I can get inside and rework everything. Gives me a goal and something to do.Deep down, we all knew a Taurus 1911 was going to be the final selection.
I have owned a Tisas. Turned out to be a nice gun after it was all said and done. It still needed a lot of work even brand new. Actually I had one picked out. It was in the mid 600's and I would still go in and mess with it. Another great gun to start a redo with.🙄 could of bought a TISAS OR A RIA, and had a better NEW gun out of the box, cheaper…..

I wanted Novak sights, Ambi thumb safety, accessory rail and the PT 1911 has all that and more. Front slide serrations, checked front strap. For 350 it gives me a project and that is what I enjoy most about the deal. Yeah I could have got a Tisas but one with just Novak style sights and front slide serrations gets up there and you still don't have Ambi safety, checked front strap with an accessory rail. There is the before and after pics of the Tisas.
Zoom in on the thumb safety and slide release and look how ruff the finish was on the factory parts. They have cleaned those up a bit now.

Concerning post #183If you are packing everyday that gives you the opportunity to engage or insert yourself into bad situation. Then if you do end up shooting someone then the lawyer fees are going to put you in the s*** house. If everything goes right which is usually never then there's a chance you're going to lose your gun. Possibly lose all of your firearm privileges. I just got too much to lose to insert myself into that m
