Cheap handgun for the truck

Being the term cheap is relative and my life and or family is of utmost value to me I would always opt for a decent firearm option.

Glock prob the "cheapest."

43's, 19's, and 17's or similar are very reasonable.

Before you guys jump out of skin on this post, I am referring to myself and not necessarily any other members. It's all about my viewpoint based upon my lifestyle and religious ideas. Everyone has the right to do anything they feel safe. I carried a handgun all the time when I lived in Atlanta. Up here I am in a completely different world. I live in a low key town of 303 and everyone knows everybody.

Again I'm only referring to myself because down there in Atlanta it's a different situation. Things can pop off at a minute over something as simple as somebody cutting them off or somebody looking at somebody the wrong way. People are pretty cordial up here and very nice unless you give them a reason not to be. I might have used the word yourself or you however, I'm speaking in terms of myself only. I don't condemn anyone for carrying a handgun all the time. That's their prerogative. It's just with my luck I would save somebody's life and they would throw me in the can just out of pure spitefulness. Just look at all the haters in here. My luck I'd get the judge just like them. 🤣🤣
That's why I'm very reserved on when I carry and don't.

I watch a lot of trainwreck court stuff on youtube... One thing I've become sure of, is **** can pop off anywhere. It always seems to be when you least expect it and hardly ever WHERE you do expect it.

That said, the majority of the population doesn't carry a firearm. To each, their own. I don't think anyone judges you for not carrying a gun. Who cares? But sometimes, your 'issues' in day to day posts, could be resolved by simply carrying a gun. Or just buying a gun to carry back and forth to your truck... which I think you've now done. We all give each other a bunch of **** around here but how you see fit to live your life and defend your property is simply up to you.

You give us plenty of other opportunities to judge you, man. Happy Holidays back to you

It's not what it starts out to be with a Taurus 1911. It's what you end up with after the upgrades that speaks to me. I have done a few PT1911's, A Remington R1 Hunter 10 mm long slide and a Tisas one as well. I shouldn't have sold that Tisas. That gun turned out sweet after I was done. From replacing the vital internals to peeing the slide rails. Peening slide rails only if it is worn and develops a bit of play between the frame and slide. It will do the trick for all I need it for. I like the PT1911 not for what it is from the factory but the potential that gun possess. The forged frame, slide and hammer forged barrel is all I am concerned with and sets the stage for the rebuild. To tell you the truth it was the fact I already know how to fool with this gun and the low price is why I chose it. I like a gun much better if I can get inside and rework everything. Gives me a goal and something to do.

My R1 Hunter 10 mm long slide wouldn't even get through a mag without jamming 2 or 3 times. Last time we took it out we put 200-250 rounds through it flawlessly. The Wilson Combat and Ed Brown parts had to be fitted but it's what the gun is now that makes it my Favorite handgun. I did all the work and that gives me a sense of pride in ownership. Can ya dig it?

Your right! What I see is the Judge wanting to set a precedent by convicting me to life in prison to keep bystanders from taking matters into their own hands with a handgun. That's just my luck. LOL

the only double homicide I was witness to was in my front yard of a nice, half million dollar+ home neighborhood. I was in PJs and thankfully got to my rattler/armor in a hurry. I have zero qualms about losing a gun after needing it, nor do I have any illusions that there's any really truly safe places in the world. To think otherwise is foolish.

OP I know you're ruffling feathers but if someone has already tried your lock, it's time for lights/dogs/alarms/carry a gun. Leave one locked in your truck, I do, I have no issue with people that do. I don't victim blame if someone wants to smash and grab out of a locked vehicle, they are the criminal, not me. Granted I spent the few hundred bucks to get a steel vault but I also understand nothing is impenetrable, it just slows people down. Carry a gun or not if you want, I don't care, but I do and will continue to do so. And it's a "real" gun that I would want in my hand if I was facing another guy with a rifle at 47 yards, not some little LCP or NAA mini revolver cause it's comfy to carry.

But I took it out and looked it over real good and this is the best deal I've ever gotten on a handgun or a gun of any type for that matter. The barrel has no where marks, the slide is still nice and tight and back where the hammer is it looks like it's never been touched. I'll give it a good cleaning because it does have some dust and stuff around some of the parts like the ambi safety, slide release and stuff like that. From what I see it looks like somebody stuck in the holster and left it. It's the best $300 I've ever spent. Of course I'm going to do my thing to it but for a start off gun it's about in the best condition you could imagine for a pre-owned gun. He's not going to be back into the 26th but I'll post pictures up then. It will make the perfect gun for what I need after I do a few modifications. It's like the kind of deal that never happens to me anyway.
