Cheap handgun for the truck

Guns International. From a Cabela's somewhere in Colorado for 325 bucks I think it was. After some internal parts swap from WC and Ed Brown she shoots like a dream. I got the trigger down to 3 lbs.. I don't like to go any lower on a 1911. It had some holster wear but that's fine for a truck gun. The guys who don't like a gun just because of the name are missing out in some decent guns. I have to admit they do need work mainly on the trigger but it's still tight and after the trigger work it shoots nice and accurate. I guess you can't really appreciate one unless you can do the work on it yourself. Haters just can't do it so they feel they have to be cool and crap on them. I would take a PT1911 over a Glock Block any day.

Do you have a range report?
Not any target I can show. I didn't keep them because my son riddled the ones I shot with the 10 mm long slide. That kid can shoot that 10 mm like it was born in his hand. Baffles the hell out of me how he shoots that good for no more that he gets out. Next time I go out I will print a couple groups with it and post them. I don't feel the need to prove anything but if you insist.
I took it to the range one time after I did all the work and was happy with the results. I haven't had it out since then. Heck that's been a while ago.
When I was a member at River Bend Gun Club I used to hit the steel plates in the handgun range everytime I went out there. I don't have that up here. Man I really miss that range time there. I used to go during the week days in the mornings. It was so peaceful and most of the times there were maybe 3 people total on all the venues. I could loose myself there. I don't know what it's like now but man back then it was pure serenity.
Of course metal over plastic. What kind of groups do you get with the 1911? I'm an old 1911 fan, but the market has changed. I have to say, I can't say anything bad about a Glock. Except too clunky for conceal carry for me. As for a actual war theater weapon, I'll go metal every time. But a 1911 is limited as a battle pistol anymore. For me to say that, it's a very big deal

Yes it is limited on round count for sure but the 1911 platform is more of a hobby for me. My go to for home defense is a 14.5 inch 6.8 SPC ll. I think 30 rounds of 110 grain pills will cover it.
Like you I love the all metal guns. I don't own a poly handgun. Have been looking at the S&W Performance center 10 mm for a higher round count handgun or the Canik SFX Rival. I tend to lean towards the 10 mill just because I have ammo stocked for that already.
As far as groups go I am very limited up here just because I like to stay isolated from the horror that is the outside world. LOL I shoot with the four brothers I grew up hunting with. We started hunting very early teens. The had a 400 acre spread loaded with wildlife. Those were the good old days back when hunting was a way of life for so many folks. When you could see a lever gun in a rack in the back window of a truck.
I only have one poly gun, Glock. For sentimental reasons. But I have to say, I can't really say anything bad about it
