Check your rifle zero before season starts

Your point is you still have old scopes that work? Me too. But newer scopes are better in every aspect aside from aesthetics.
Yep, I can tread a needle. If it ain't broke.......Glass is good. I'm big on vision clarity, simple and works well. I understand, but proof is in the pudding. Certainly go with what works for you. If I buy new, Leupold would be my first look. If I found a great deal on a German optic, I'd seriously consider it

Don't get me wrong guys if somebody gave me a Schmidt and Bender or March Genisis Scope I wouldn't say no and not put it in one of my rifles.
I just remember some of the old Scopes that had Bosch and Lomb and Japanese glass ( made by Japanese camera companies) and were a " set it and forget it " type scope. It nice sometimes just to shoot and not worry about turret adjustment. However, I do have those scopes and enjoy them as well.

I guess I am just getting old and think about the days gone by way too often. Back then you had to use the old Kentucky Windage which boiled down to skill. These days with all the tech involved all that is figured out for you. Back then that's what separated the men from the boys.

Now before you boys get all bent out of shape that statement was just in general. Skill was more a part of the shot as opposed technology doing most of the work. But I also know that it takes a great deal of knowledge to apply that tech effectively.

When it comes to scopes, mounts and rings buy quality and there's no comparison how much better everything is today than in years past. IMO Leupold sells the best hunting glass, they have the colors and contrast figured out for hunting. For target shooting the March Majesta and Nightforce are my picks.
