Bobby, a Toyota 4Runner 1996-2002 with the 3.4 engine is much more reliable and better on gas than the Jeep. In a 4x4 version it is just as capable as well. My recommendation is based on personal experience with Jeep and Toyota

The jeep is a good choice. It will hold its value and has very few blind spots. The 4.0 will last 250,000 miles.
A good one will be hard to find but they are out there.
