so this is a new one

turn the key, all electrical stuff will come up fine, but nothing else, not even the starter trying. wait a minute and try it again, everything cranks up fine. and once its running no issues

happens once every dozen of times now, which makes it very obnoxious to troubleshoot (since i cant recreate the issue)

today though, i tried to start. nothing. tried again, it kinda cranked and then died......this is weird.tried it again and it started up no issue and ran fine

im banking on it possibly being the starter motor, or perhaps a solenoid needs to be cleaned out or a connection checked or something

to reiterate, it will crank and run, sometimes it just takes more attempts than others which makes this vehicle unreliable

i have never changed a starter motor before or anything like that, any advice or input would be greatly welcomes fellas

First thing I would do is go to every battery cable connection and do the following:
1. Remove nuts/bolts holding them on.
2. Use a wire brush and a can of plain old coca cola to clean off any corrosion.
3. Inspect the cables to see if any of them have kinks or bare spots, replace as needed.
3. Put it back together and go to the next connection.

Don't forget the ground connections including battery to frame/engine block as well as the positive connection at the starter.

my old s10 had the same issue, but i cant
remember if it was the starter, loose bat term
or ign switch all of which had to be repaired/
replaced at one time or another.

goodluck hope you get it.

starter solenoid and the bendix arm and bearing...replace starter before it tears up the fly wheel.!
