Chipper!

Yep, well deserved. Glad he is in there.

Now if the writers will put Fred McGriff in there...Such an injustice that the crime dog isn't in the hall. Lifetime BA of .284, 493 HR, 1550 RBI, 2490 hits....He was a good fielder, a good teammate, multi time all star and helped win a championship. He was never a part of the steroid controversy and was a quiet storm throughout his career...493 HR....How is McGriff not in the hall?

IMHO, McGriff is just half a notch short of being worthy. His "modern era" stats don't measure up as well as his traditional stats, and the writers look at those numbers. Didn't help that he played on small market teams for much of the best of his career, contributing to his career quietness.

Excellent ballplayer, but the HOF isn't the Hall of Excellent. It's one rung higher.

McGriff's lifetime stats are more impressive than many in the HOF, and he played on some good teams in his career, including those great Braves teams.

Just for comparison, let's look at Chipper.
Lifetime, BA .303, 468 HR, 2726 hits, 1623 RBI. 8 time all star, one world series ring.
Very impressive, and he received 97% of the vote.
I don't see how a guy with 493 HR isn't in the hall, not to mention all his other numbers.
