Christmas scams

Very old ine; but works all the time.
"Medicaid" calls to reen roll you. They do a whole medical questionnaire to hook you. Then at the end a quick confirmation of social and sensitive info. Last I heard this scam was based in Russia and they use English speakers. Preying on the elderly.

2 things you can do.

1.) In your phone call settings, you can set it so anyone NOT in your contacts list is automatically sent to voicemail.
2.) Download an app, like Robokiller, and it'll block most of those calls. That's what I do.

Sad thing is, you can’t always trust the caller ID showing POSSIBLE SPAM. I got one the other day but it was actually express scripts calling about my medicine

I keep receiving calls stating this is Amazon, there was an attempt to charge 700ish $$$ from somewhere in Ohio. I know its not legit, the caller ID shows call originated in Cartersville ga, my home town. They don't give up, 3 times today already. Is there someway to stop this? I know, hopeless cause stopping spammers.

Also, let's keep each other informed on scams by listing the type of scams you have received. My home phone and cell have been blown up the last few days. I block the numbers, but they spoof up another right away.

I emailed Amazon about this, but I doubt I'll hear anything useful back.

I did not read all the comments so if I am repeating information oh well.
Do not answer unkown numbers the more times you answer the more calls you will get. I let unkown numbers go to voice mail and if it is a scam I block the number. If no message is left I block the number. Eventually the calls will stop for a while. Been about 3 months since my last Patel call. Probably jinxed myself now.
Blocking Anonymous Calls on a Landline. Dial *77 on your phone at the dial tone. This will activate anonymous call blocking on a landline telephone. Note that this service is only available if you have Caller ID.

Enter *67 and then the number you want to block from seeing your caller ID info. Other ways to stop nuisance calls: Add your number to the free National Do Not CallRegistry by calling 888.382. 1222 or going to www.donotcall.gov.

If the scammers are calling from say Indopakichinastan the do not call list means squat because there are no consequences.

They just change the numbers. I waited on the "foreign voice on the other end too answer after the prerecorded message to complete. He said how may I help you? I said you called me, he stated oh I'm from Amazon and someone in Ohio has attempted to charge 706$ on your account. I say you're from Amazon? He replies yes. I say if your from Amazon why use my local phone numbers in 4 different calls in 3 days on my caller ID? He stutters, uh then I ask if your truly from Amazon why are you a lying about the numbers? Uh , I then say your a lying piece of **** scammer aren't you? Click. Its been 3 hours since last call hopefully it will last.
