There are two sets, letting one of them go- hope to trade for a set of RB of like quality. I think I'm gonna keep the 2nd set in pics. Are you letting that set go?
That's why I take lots of pics of mine- so that when they are gone I can look back and cry.I just sold a 44 mag, Elmer Keith in box never fired wish I had a pic to show what a gem it is

that sir is cool.My friend I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
The M42 is the Airweight version of the M40 Centennial. The M42 has the concealed hammer, is a J frame 5 shot .38, alloy frame, a steel cylinder and barrel with a backstrap safety. There was a pin used to hold down the backstrap safety which was stored in the grips, but they are seldom found with the pin, and mine no longer has the pin. The M40 and the especially the M42 were the forerunners to the M442 and the M642. Mine is from 1962/1963 and has the flat latch thumbpiece. They are seldom seen, but I don't know if I could say they are rare. Because it is an airweight, it is a great carry piece. I like it but, I already have a carry piece. Not sure I am going to keep it, sell it or trade it, but I am in no hurry. One just does not see many of the M40s or the M42s.
Here is mine.

I had never seen another set like 'em, not sure what type wood- has a unique pattern and I love 'em. Any help from our panel of experts on the type wood used would be much appreciated........
