Classic wheel gun porn....

Finally!!! After years of looking I have my new to me S&W 629 3" round butt. This is a dash 1 made in 1986. Has original grips, box and documents :) this is going to be my new range/woods/hunting/bear defense/ scare the piss out of new shooters revolver. This is one to keep and be passed down. Glocks come and go but Smiths are usually here to stay, and I for sure know this one is. So happy :)

Congratulations olchevy, this no lock specimen is indeed scarce and one that makes we big bore snub fans green with envy.. (10 on the drool meter).... Nice pick up.
Especially appreciate your classifying this as a "pass down" to the next generation. I pray that they will enjoy the same freedoms as we enjoy today.
Have a custom leather made for this gem :)
Thanks for sharing your story.

Thank you for that, and yes this one is for sure to be passed down. I don't have to many guns total compared to many people on here, but I have more than a few. And over the years I have bought sold and traded to find out what I did and don't like, and pretty much know what I like now. So that's why my trading on here had essentially stopped the last year or so because I love what I have so I am keeping it. It might take me a while to save up to buy the next gun I like, but I would rather wait to get one than lose one I love. As of right now at of all of my firearms only ONE I would consider for possible trade or sell fodder and surprise suprise it's a Glock.
Honestly if I could never get a single other firearm for the rest of my life (giving that if mine breaks they can be fixed) I would be ok with that. I am completely content with what I have now. I hope to acquire some more revolvers, at least one real old Colt SAA, some other WW2 rifles etc. but those are all "Would be nice" guns, not "have to have". I want them to someday hopefully be passed down to my kids and theirs and so on and so forth, but don't be mistaken if my kids happen to grow up to be some gun hating left wings for whatever reason, I will still love them, but my guns will be willed to someone I find that does love guns and the history and stories in their wood and steel. Watch some random kid one day get the call of a lifetime. " Hello sir, you know old Mr. Gossett?. Yeah well he passed and he willed every gun he had to you" lol

And yes the holster that came with it is very nice, but I will have a custom made one for it. Know of any companies? I know ones for custom leather knife sheathes but not as much for revolvers. Maybe a chest rig, or cowboy style with belt made part of it....

On a side note my little 1993 pre-lock daily carry 442 got sad with the new girl getting all the attention whilst she is riding in my dusty pocket. She deserves a little love. And on a side note I'm mid twenties, not old as some may think and I mainly carry revolvers and a old case trapper. Some things never go out of style. :)

Justin, you are wise beyond your years, at least in the way of Guns...And that 442 looks JUST LIKE my EDC Piece--Hadda' look in my Fanny Pack just now to make sure it was still there--It is-- :) --LOL!

Should we start a new thread or do it in here?
I simply want to know how many

I thought you always ran the little 3" jframe you showed me. Or was that what your wife preferred?

My middle daughter calls revos "Old Folks" guns. Especially with those "moon thingy". Her youngest sister shoots revolver, I taught both of them early on with revolver, and have to say among all guns the revolver is my favorite. From a fundamentals approach, your trigger control is better when you practice DAO with a revo. I'm getting a little longer in tooth, but have passed the love of wheel guns along.

Nice trigger finger management! Well done, Dad!

Although I would say the "flash zone" is a bit cluttered. You might want to sterilize that area a bit to help the young shooter not be distracted by her visual periphery!

Bang! Bang! Bang! Much fun!
Oh, and go find some bowling pins to shoot at. Young kids (girls in particular) get a real charge out of making those things fly around when they hit them. It's more trips down range, but the conversation while walking to and fro just adds to the overall experience!
