Some of you saw my last Slow Rust, reblue project (https://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/posts/7393299/) and the outcome was pretty good so, I thought I would try another. This time I did do Before and After Pics.

This project was a not so well off S&W .38 Safety Hammerless 5th Model
It was a complete disassemble with all internals cleaned and freshly lubed. Interesting note on this one, The Barrel markings are flipped or, on opposite sides from what the SCSW states and, it does also state that this did happen on early 5th model productions, so based on the SN of 244989 I am guessing between 1910 and 1920 production. All numbers matching according to the proper location as stated in the SCSW

Enjoy the before and afters.

Very nice work. I'm so glad you did the before and after this time.

Would you consider taking a look at my Grandfathers Colt police positive 22 lr ?View attachment 1288499 View attachment 1288500

Lovely. That would make a great candidate for saving. It's not that hard to do and each one I do gains me more experience. I actually won a Dan Wesson on Gunbroker that is supposed to be coming into my FFL tomorrow that I have plans for doing the same thing. It's a great candidate for a nice Slow Rust Bluing. I am going to try and match the actual Deep Dark color of the DW

Here is a picture of the one I have coming so I will do it as well with some before and after. It's probably in similar condition as the colt.

I kinda like the look of these fellas. Look battle worn if you will, not everything needs saving...or does it?
