Cleveland Ford’s “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty” is a scam.

I remember working at Pep Boys and Auto Zone in South Macon back in 90/91. Back then Ford and GM did have electronic ignition BUT the "Computer" that ran it was a whole different thing than what we have now. Remember the square aluminum box with wiring connectors hanging off of it that was on the fender well of most every Ford back then? If and when it went bad you took it to the parts store and matched up a new one (usually under $30.00) . As I recall the GM version sat right in the center of the big ass distributor cap.
I feel like all the auto industry has done since back then was to add multiple layers of unnecessary complications. Yeah some of it is the gubment's fault but not all of it.
Yep. We went to the moon in 69 using slide rules but today with all of our new “technology” they can’t figure out how to go back. As much as I enjoy the antics of ODT, I’d go back to Shotgun News, no cellphones and no computers in homes or cars in a heart beat.

I’m going to keep my eye on Mecum especially their Houston, Tx auction for a nice pre-1980 Ford or Chevy 3/4 ton that’s been restored. Not worried about gas mileage as I don’t drive that much and the only creature comforts I want is 4wd, A/C and P/S.
I read an article about a month ago about a new Nissan truck that I believe is already available in other countries. It's super basic as in reg cab, long bed, manual transmission with A/C and a radio. That's about it. I don't really trust new Nissans much but a good friend HAD a 19 Frontier base model 5 speed that was THE cheapest new truck he ever bought. I told him I wanted it when he got new truck fever. But a damn Democrat in an Altima hit it late last year... Of course right before it was paid for.
Anyway I wish Nissan all the luck in the world selling a new truck in the $20K range.

Got to get the Clark Griswold white patent leather loafers to go with it.

My wife’s 2007 Toyota 4-runner has 214,000 miles and not one issue. I will NEVER buy a new vehicle made by an American company (Ford,Chevy, Dodge) again….Buy American, get screwed.
My 2025 80k dollar F150 Lariat. The trim on the grab handle fell off last night. Easy fix but seriously. Quality?

I'm just going to be happy if everything else holds together. /fingers crossed.
