Cleveland Ford’s “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty” is a scam.

I’m going to keep my eye on Mecum especially their Houston, Tx auction for a nice pre-1980 Ford or Chevy 3/4 ton that’s been restored. Not worried about gas mileage as I don’t drive that much and the only creature comforts I want is 4wd, A/C and P/S.
Here is another site that has some older trucks in good shape

These guys usually have a good selection of 90's 3/4 ton and 1 tons as well

I bought a 2019 Ford F-150 from Cleveland Ford in Cleveland, TN because their dealership offered a “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty”. In July 2025 I began having shifting problems and deceleration issues especially in 4th gear with the 10-speed 10R80 transmission. I found out Ford had issued 6 TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) about the same problems I was having for the F-150, Ranger, Expedition and Explorer who used the same 10R80 transmission.

I called Cleveland Ford and told them of the problems and they said I could take it to any Ford dealer for repair. So I took it to a dealer near me and they said there were a lot of trucks from 2017-2022 having the same problems with the 10R80 and Ford refused to issue a recall even though they had sent out 6 TSBs about the known problems. They said the transmission would need replacing with a 10R80 that had the improved CDF drum and valve bodies. I told them about Cleveland Ford’s Lifetime Powertrain Warranty and the service tech chuckled and said he would contact Cleveland Ford but he seriously doubted they would cover it.

Come to find out Cleveland Ford’s “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty” is not through Ford or their dealership but is instead through Total Warranty Services in Boca Raton, FL. They denied my warranty claim because even though I had performed all of the recommended services including the transmission, I had performed my own lubrication, oil and filter changes, recorded them on Car Fax and that violated the entire warranty because it wasn’t performed by an “ASE mechanic”. I told them the people performing the oil changes at the quick lube oil change stores are not ASE certified (which they would accept) but they refused to listen. So it cost me $8700.00 out-of-pocket to repair a known defective transmission that Ford refuses to recall and Cleveland Ford’s “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty” is just another car dealership scam.

Cleveland Ford refused to return my phone calls and emails so I will NEVER buy another Ford product especially from Cleveland Ford in TN.
Hate here that seems like vehicle recalls new norm today. All makes & models. Might talk to
Lawyer see what he say about the lifetime warranty deal. I am sure your not the only one got screwed over by Cleveland Ford might call the Folks at Ford headquarters don’t think they like one over dealership screwing over customers.

So many points to make here. In 07 I worked for an independent VW/Audi shop. That's when I learned that they all had a secret panel in front of the sunroof with like an Allan key to close it WHEN it failed. NOT if it failed but WHEN.
Anyway I love the boxy Fords from like 79 to around 83. The LTD the Fairmont and even the Granada. Yeah you laugh at that comment but try to find one now. And if you do you'll be shocked at the asking price.
As for Mercedes that was never my thing BUT there's one her in Perry that's a 300D WAGON that I would definitely do crime for. Not as cool as a Volvo 240 or 740 wagon but still worth it.
Yea, I know there is a way to close it. I have a mechanic that knows that car like the back of his hand. I never was a convertible or sunroof guy. Not in a house either. You put a hole in the roof, it will leak at some point. I always wanted a Euro car since I was a teen. Glad I didn't try one till the last several years. I couldn't have afforded to keep it running. The cars will last a lifetime as long as you can get parts. The Euro wagon is enticing

A factory warranty now a days ain’t worth a sh*t, they haven’t in decades really… a warranty from a 3rd party service on a vehicles isn’t worth the paper it’s advertised or printed on.

My first car was an Audi Fox so I've been weird ever since. I love Audi and older Volvo models. But I already know I couldn't afford to maintain and Audi if you gave it to me.
Right about now I want one of those badass Cadillac coupes like geezer geezer drives.

Anytime I buy a car I will write out the check for the agreed-upon price. When I do the paperwork and the finance guy asks me about the extended warranties and the other bull**** that they want to sell you I say here’s my check; anything else that you wanna throw in for free is fine with me. They always look mad. F them. All those extended warranties are a pure rip especially the aftermarket ones like the ones that a certain female race car driver endorses. Pure and utter rip. Caveat emptor!!!! And that goes for pretty much everything not just cars. It’s a money grab.

2020 Chevy Silverado at 41,000 miles , idler tension pulley for the serpentine belt started screaming . Extended warranty , took it to one shop that honored the warranty . They wanted $162 to look at it , leave it , we will get back with you . F that . Took it to another national chain , said leave it , we will get back with you . Asked when , said a week or so . F that ! Now mind you , I’m 97% deaf , AND I CAN HEAR THE F,ing thing . Nope . Went to the original Chevy dealer it was purchased from , they said leave it , we will get to it in 3 weeks or so . I will NEVER buy an extended warranty again ! The Chevy dealer I bought it from , they can suck eggs ! I’m going to just pay out of pocket , f*** thieving auto repair places ! Rant over !

I know exactly how you feel.

There are sometimes some decent deals here on restored older trucks, check value or market rate to make sure you're not overpaying. They have a location in Lithia Springs.

Thanks for all of the websites. I’ll check’em out and may find just what I’m looking for.👍🏻
