Cleveland Ford’s “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty” is a scam.

These days if you don't have a spare vehicle or two, you're sunk
Funny thing is the day after I put my 2019 F-150 in the shop, I was driving into town in my 1974 Ford Bronco and the newly rebuilt 3 speed manual transmission started making a clanking/grinding sound when I shifted it into 3rd. I turned around, nursed it home, parked it in the garage and I’ll be hauling it to my mechanic at the end of the month to see what happened.

This has not been my month. 2 Fords, 45 years apart and 2 transmissions fails. Those old “Found On Road Dead” “Fixed Or Repaired Daily” sayings are legit.

The old ones surely were. I've had pretty good luck with my 94 and 2003. And a line of others since 83. The key is to have 3 because I've had 2 broke down at a time. I've had constant troubles the last several years. I may be getting close to having everything running well all at the same time. That's several vehicles

Every time I hear ads about Lifetime Warranty I automatically assume it's a scam
Same. I don't even want to deal with a place advertising like this. I know it's BS without hearing the details.

I read an article about a month ago about a new Nissan truck that I believe is already available in other countries. It's super basic as in reg cab, long bed, manual transmission with A/C and a radio. That's about it.
Land Cruiser 70 series or a Hilux would be great, but we don't get them.

A current Nissan Frontier is about as close to a 2nd gen Tacoma as is available today. I hate Nissan in general, and it's not going to tow for **** if you need that, but it's pretty old school.

I'd be all over a Toyota diesel. Thing is most are right hand drive and expensive here

Yeah when I hear ads about that kind of ridiculous sounding warranty it's always from dealers like Jeff Smith Ford and Five Star which are the two most notoriously ****ty dealership groups in middle GA. I wouldn't even pull on one of their lots to turn around. I worked at Jeff Smith ( last lot I worked for ever) in 2011 and a manager told a group of us "If they pull into this lot I don't care if they're just looking for directions to McDonald's. They gotta talk to at LEAST two people before they leave."
That's about the ****tiest way to do business there is

Every time I hear ads about Lifetime Warranty I automatically assume it's a scam cooked up by the lot owner and head service writer. Believe me if you think the salesman up front will stick it to you bad then you obviously ain't met many service writers. They will break it off in you every time. They make commission checks too.
From what little I know about the warranty deal it's a guarantee that YOU have to bring the vehicle back to THEM for ALL your service needs even little ****. That way service is making a ton off of you. And when you miss a scheduled maintenance appointment or go somewhere else all that warranty is null and void. I COULD be wrong but that's how I've seen it play out before.
Clark Howard say that as well. He says "When they try to sell you an extended warranty or lifetime warranty, run away from it".

Now, you all be aware of HARDY in Dallas, GA - They're bad as well! The company I worked before prohibited any driver to bring the trucks for service and maintenance over there, because of so many fake repairs and HUGE bill!!
