Cleveland Ford’s “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty” is a scam.

Clark Howard say that as well. He says "When they try to sell you an extended warranty or lifetime warranty, run away from it".

Now, you all be aware of HARDY in Dallas, GA - They're bad as well! The company I worked before prohibited any driver to bring the trucks for service and maintenance over there, because of so many fake repairs and HUGE bill!!
One of the service writer tricks that used to piss me off was when I would take in a cheap car in trade and often times I already had someone looking for that kinda car. But THEN they would run that trade through service and pencil **** it to death. Most of the time a car like that needs fluids checked or changed and maybe tires. But by the time service gets done with it they've slapped another $2K worth of bull**** onto the cost. Then my "Cheap Trade" that I was gonna sell cheap and STILL make money has doubled in price. So then your CASH car costs more than most cash car customers have on hand. Which means they need it financed BUT nobody is gonna finance it usually due to age and miles. So you still have a cash car sitting on the lot that nobody has enough cash to buy. And if they did have the cash that ain't the car they want. So after it sits around a few months a wholesaler buys it for less than I would have sold it for and somehow the lot owner sees that as good. Meanwhile all the bull**** the service guy did to the cheap car came out of the lot's budget. It makes no sense at all.

I had a lemon like this back in the late 90’s. I’m die hard GM, so what happened never deterred me from still buying their products. Long story short, in and out of the shop for 2 years, I mean all the time. GM gave me the run around, trying to dodge buying it back, even sent me coupons for 5k off new vehicle, but never would they buy that truck back, so idk what happened, but it got parked in a dry hay field, tall grass, next thing I know it burnt to the ground, we laughed and laughed. Insurance check was nice along with that coupon👍

I’m going to keep my eye on Mecum especially their Houston, Tx auction for a nice pre-1980 Ford or Chevy 3/4 ton that’s been restored. Not worried about gas mileage as I don’t drive that much and the only creature comforts I want is 4wd, A/C and P/S.
Unless it’s been wrecked or put away? ; I’d bet someone’s still enjoying my ‘70 Ford truck with 351 Cleveland. Note: The 351/400modified engines are terrible (expert level experience lol) . BillsCamino BillsCamino has probably forgot more than I know about Classic trucks. You can still find them though , and you might have to spend some money on upgrades like the fuel system and cab bushings… ? but no need for warranty 👍🏻

One of the best trucks I've ever owned was a 1990 F150 2dr shortbed Lariat w/the 300 in straight 6.
After almost 5 yrs, I sold it here on ODT to buy a BN 2021 F150 V6 non-turbo.
I miss that '90....

This has not been my month. 2 Fords, 45 years apart and 2 transmissions fails. Those old “Found On Road Dead” “Fixed Or Repaired Daily” sayings are legit.

The best way to work for a living is to work for yourself. It ain't easy either way

My MIL bought a used 2020 Ford Edge from Hardy in Dallas and paid for the Ford extended warranty. I thought she was wasting her money until she had to have the transmission replaced. She didn't pay a dime.
