So is it good or bad that you shot a tagged bird?

Nothing bad about it at all. Ducks are caught, banded, then released during their nesting season. When a hunter harvests a bird that’s has a band he/she is encouraged to report the band. It’s simply a way to collect mirgratiin information of waterfowl.
Compared to the total number of ducks in North America, only a small percentage are banded each year. The rarity of harvest a banded bird is what makes it special.
A bit of perspective for you. I’ve been waterfowling for over 18 years and have only harvested one banded bird.

Well done Sir! I was lucky enough to get drawn for the first ever goose season here in Georgia..I shot a goose mounted him on the wall behind me..He to has a band, only time I ever shot one with a band..
