It was on the news so it must be true. Unbelievable the reaction here really. First it was a "comfort" dog, not a seeing eye dog or the like. Big difference. Carry on believing everything you here and read in the news. Amazing how fast the person that was asked to leave retained a lawyer.

Source?

Exactly.
It wasn't a service dog. It was to make the owner feel better.

Andrew does have a Doberman, though I don't think she's much of a guard dog... Way too sweet.

My dog is amazing around people, loving and cheerful and sweet, however, is is very aggressive around other dogs. He was a rescue, and I have socialized him with my other pets, but he just doesn't get along with other dogs. We've seen specialists to no avail... I just keep him away from strange dogs. Too easy.

Was he asked to leave, or was he asked to take his dog outside? I wonder...

Agreed. Amazing how fast the victim retained a lawyer as well. Clyde served as a Commander in the USN retiring after 20+ years. He is very pro military. There is more to this story as as it sits now it does not pass the sniff test.

For his dog or the lawyer?

Service dog/comfort dog is a companion not helping with a physical disability. They are using some in regards to PTSD.

There is no mention of a therapy dog in that article, just a service dog.

Do you have a source for the information on the dog?

Edit: the law differentiates the two (service and therapy). Service dogs are allowed access everywhere while therapy dogs are not.

A Service Dog is defined in the Americans With Disabilities Act as "any guide dog,
signal dog, or other animal individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the
benefit of an individual with a disability, including but not limited to guiding
individuals with impaired vision, alerting individuals with impaired hearing to
intruders or sounds, providing minimal protection or rescue work, pulling a
wheelchair, or fetching dropped items."

What source would make you satisfied? I am approaching 20 years in the military and am very well versed as to what a service/comfort dog is. Believe me or not, but this animal is to be a companion and calm the individual, it is not pulling his wheel chair, leading him for lack of sight etc.

Obviously not. Read my post.

I'm just wondering how you know it wasn't a service dog. Do you know the man? Do you know the dog? How do you know the dog is a comfort/therapy dog? Do you have a source that differentiates the two or calls the dog a therapy or comfort animal?

Your years in the military don't mean much when we are talking about comfort vs. service animal (unless you worked with them).

and some people keep a lawyer on retainer...
I think of it like ALWAYS having car insurance instead of only getting it if I think I might have an accident.
