Has anyone received one of the “new” reclaimed Garands yet? Everything I’ve seen or read seems like they are doing a very thorough rebuild of these receivers.

I have looked at pictures on line of ones that others have purchased. CMP has done a really good job to bring these back into service and I would have no hesitation to buy one. I have enough parts on hand to put a garand together and might buy one of the RC barreled receivers that they are selling for $500 if I am at the store.

CMP used to be the best deal going to buy a garand and I have bought many from them. I no longer think that is the case.

They have raised prices closer to market. The quality of the garands are not as good as they used to be.

Over the years, hundreds of thousand of garands have been sold. The market is flooded and many collectors like myself have safes full of them. With effort, a nice garand can be found at close to what CMP is charging without it being an RC.

I’ve made offers on a few and others were too far away. Don’t know why I sold the 5 previous Garands I’ve had.

Looking at a CMP field grade reclaimed one now. They have it for $800. My last one was an Expert 308. It was sweet.

I have sold two garands on ODT this year. Both were nice service grade rifles.
