Oh dang Geezer.

Hey remember that .22 mag I was talking about? Well I found an old pic I had forgotten about. My first Buck. Took him with that .22 mag out in Colorado, got him @ 875 yds uphill had him mounted and took this pic.
Don't recall what ever happened to him, lost in the move I suppose.

Check out the rack on that sucker!

I'm an Air Force veteran, having served from 1989 until 1994. We only had to shoot once a year with an M-16 to qualify but I'm happy to say that I qualified as an expert marksman my first time. That probably won't impress too many people on here but I have the ribbon nonetheless. They only make you shoot at 25 yards from standing, prone and kneeling positions but the target was reduced for a hundred yards or so. I never felt like it was too hard but that's not saying much when you grow up in Canton as a country boy around guns your whole life.

I'm proud to be an ODT member and I've enjoyed meeting those of you that I've met in person so far. I didn't even get interested in guns again until 2008. Surprise, surprise...

Thanks for your service Thunderhorse. Wow 25 yd qualify? I was in the US ARMY 13B and we used the target you speak of to sight in our rifle and prepare for qualifying.

I remember when on ODT every thread was just like this one and we shared great stories with each other, laughed with each other and genuinely cared for each other. Can't wait to see that come back again.

It should never have left. These are some cool stories fellas! Keep 'em coming!
I just listened to Marvin Gay...Sexual Healing. Though inappropriate for this forum, it sure brings back some memories!

Here is the PM copied and pasted:

"If I were not broke I'd buy them, if you don't move them and want to trade I'll swap you my Christmas gift from a old pal of mine. Two $50.00 each 750ml bottles of "Single Barrel" Jack Daniels !! "

Speaking of qualifying, when I was at FT.Sill (true story btw) we were out on the range to qualify. There was a gun battery off in the distance somewhere and we could see & here the impact of the rounds on a ridge in the distance, a mile or better away. I had just finished my qualifying round and gave the all clear dropped the mag bolt locked open stood up showed my D.I. my weapon was empty etc. When we heard a loud unmistakable sound of incoming large artillery. Boom a round hit at the 300 meter mark on the range, blew down all the targets (pop ups) and over the PA in the range tower you could hear the shrapnel , click, click ,click. My D.I standing there no discernable change in his expression as a piece of white hot shrapnel hit the mud between his feet, laying there sizziling like hot bacon. There were instantly black SUV's (my best Al Gore voice) and MP's everywhere.
Turned out the gun battery was a training battery and some dipstick had picked up the colometer to look in it then put it back. Set the gun off 10 clicks which resulted in over 1000 meters down range.
I bet some A** got chewed over that one for sure.
