What is the difference of an ultrabook and a laptop? Looking to purchase a new one and just curious.

ultrabook is a type of laptop. Designed for lightweight and battery life. They are more expensive, but for basic use they are more than capable and if you are someone who travels they are the way to go. If you play games, you shouldn't be looking at a laptop anyway, and if you don't play games but are just looking for a cheap beater, a standard sub 500 dollar laptop should meet all your requirements.
