Connecticut School Shooting

If that is in fact how he acquired them, very illegal

Consider the source. They couldn't even get the shooters name right initially. They will rush to conclusions well beyond any factual evidence is released.

Fact over emotion would be a nice mantra for our news medias to adhere to.

As I sit here, stunned & reeling, while reading the news footage of the Connecticut Elementary school shooting, the thought crosses my mind:

Yesterday, 22 year old walks into a mall, kills some people, then himself.

Today, 20 year old walks into a school, kills some (a lot) people, then himself

Tomorrow...?

Yeah, I know it is too soon to be a pattern but...is something going on? The fear lurking in the back of my mind is that this is a new terrorist treat.
And the Joker theater shooter.

I have a theory about this age group that may or may not have validity. We have an entire generation now of kids who have been on ritalin and other mood enhancing/psychotropic drugs since they were in kindergarten. Now they are in their twenties and it seems to me that some are bound to break a mental circuit eventually.

I recall reading that all the Columbine kids had been medicated from an early age as well. Combine that with an indoor life of video games and computers rather than playing ball and building tree forts, their view of reality is bound to get distorted to say the least.

On another note, the most horrific school killing occurred in 1927 in Lansing MI and no guns were involved. This deranged psycho took 44 lives along with his own after murdering his wife at home and burning down his own farm. Third largest massacre in our history behind 9-11 and OK City but it won't get a mention.

This guy hated his mother so much, he decided to kill what she loved after killing her.

There is no policy in the world that will prevent something like this. If we have a national discussion about dealing with mental illness, fine, but use of this tragedy to advance an agenda is disgusting.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Interesting.

The perpetrators in all of the modern mass shootings were described as "off" by schoolmates and neighbors.

From what I am reading now, his mother was not in fact a teacher at the school.

I also wish they would quit talking about the rifle in the car. It was not part of the crime, and they are only bringing it up to make this guy sound that much scarier. He was scary enough without the AR in his trunk.

I was thinking the same thing. I believe that the Colorado shooter and Virginia Tech shooters both were or had been on some type of medication as well. I have first hand experience as to how medication seems to change people. My brother in law began taking adderall when he began college and we all slowly noticed a change in his behavior. After a few years he became suicidal(including a failed attempt), was very unstable, and started having violent tendencies. My sister tried and tried to get him help until one day he just snapped. Walked away from his job, began drinking heavily and just acting erratically. After about 8 months to a year he hit rock bottom and agreed to get help. As soon as the adderall was removed from his life he became the person we knew prior. He has been off of the meds now for about a year and doing great. He, along with the rest of us believe that the adderall was partly to blame. I know there are other contributing factors, but if you mix all the ingredients together then I think you end up with situations like these. I have spoken to people about these types of medications and a number of them agree that in some people it changes them. I know this is not true for everyone, but it is just what I believe.
