You have never lived in any former Soviet Bloc, Eastern European nation, have you?

I have. Walking around a police cordoned off space with dead bodies, unfortunately, can become commonplace to the point where you become de-sensitized. Or having locals that work for you turn up dead because people think the American is paying them a lot.

It's still better here......for now.

Sorry, I got a little carried away and didnt edit my rant... Never lived in the Soviet Bloc, never lived in a war zone, never lived in the gulf. Yes, its better here.

What if we did something really radical!!! Like witheld all this overseas financial assistance packages to countries that currently hate us and spend that cash on some internal assistance?
Maybe cover the salaries for some school cops? I mean it's not like we need the jobs over here anyway right?

Ms. Libero said parents were trying to determine how the gunman entered the school. The school uses a double-secured door during the day, she said. Visitors approaching the school must press a button to be buzzed in through the outer set of school doors to enter the building.

A letter sent to Sandy Hook parents earlier this year described a new security protocol put in place at the school. The protocol requires identification for most visitors who must ring a doorbell to gain entry to the school's front entrance, which is locked after 9:30 a.m. "If our office staff does not recognize you, you will be required to show identification with a picture ID," the letter said.

Its cool. its an emotional day. We just need to stay level headed the best we can. Most people are ****ting and falling back in it today. Responsible gun folk need to show our support for the families in a calm and caring way.

This tragedy is different than others for me because I have one in pre k and another in 2nd grade. The more I hear and the more I think about it, the worse it gets. Not to discount the other tragedies, but the innocence of kids that age being taken like that makes me absolutely hate what our society has become. My kids are raised in a good home, grounded in God's word, but I question now if that's even enough! As I write this, I feel somewhat helpless. I watch the coverage and become even more sick when the news anchors focus more on the weapons used than the life of 5yr old boys and girls that were lost. In my opinion, many of the news outlets and politicians are just as sick as the shooter. What won't people politicize? We shouldn't have to look at our own kids and start to tear up thinking what if it was them? Everyday from here on out will be a little bit different, but I pray for the families of the victims, everyone at that school, and everyone like me who now has that in the back of their minds each time their kid is out of their sight.

Or they knew who he was because his mother worked there.

why in the world he it made it through the front door is beyond me..armed folks in the front office = very little news today. I have to stop and speak with staff log in on a computer before the doors are unlocked and then I am buzzed in. I have had 4 kids at our primary school I have been there in some capacity for over 5 yrs they know me like family and I still have to sign in. After today I will never complain as to why they still make me do this for dropping of my kids forgotten lunch bag

I agree that this is horrible tragedy and my heart goes out to all the families of the victims. I have a granddaughter and fear for her safety growing up in today's world. Our Government wants to use this sinceless tragedy to push for more gun control. Words straight out of the presidents mouth. More laws that affect the honest and hard working Americans that want to protect their families from idiots like the ones in Connecticut today. Laws that will mean nothing to the idiots that want and plan S*@T like this. Correct me if I am wrong, but Murder is against the law! That did not stop these guys from killing 30 people today.
The Govenment can ban guns and someone will still come up with a way to take the lives of innocient people to make a point reguardless of any laws they pass.

I wept for the families when I got home today from work(by myself, in the closet), turned the tv off, Then I hugged my kids and prayed for sanity/peace/coping for the parents of these precious ones. God have mercy on America and what we have become.

I and my wife just had a talk with our kids about this. We went over our emergency plan again if something bad happen when we are out. They understand that if we are out and there are gun shots we all will hide, if we see a shooter they run and hide.

I would love to protect my children's innocence. I wish I could be naive and say that evil doesn't exist in our world. They shouldn't have to remember an emergency plan! They shouldn't be exposed to this. Evil of this depth shouldn't exist. But it does, and this time the wolves didn't descend upon the sheep... It attacked the lambs.
