We love Helton Creek Falls, go at least once a year. You can swim in the upper falls area, and ride down the rock slides in the lower falls area. The drive in can be fun as well if you take the water crossing route. Vogel State Park is also very close by if you want to picnic, dry off, hike to another falls they have there, fish, etc.

If you love music and history check out Macon, the birthplace of Southern Rock. Also, During the Civil War, Macon served as the official arsenal of the Confederacy and Macon City Hall served as the temporary state capitol in 1864.

- Capricorn Studios - See where artists such as The Allman Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels Band, Razzy Bailey, Martin Mull, Percy Sledge, Livingston Taylor, Bonnie Bramlett, Stillwater, Wet Willie and others recorded. Also, Macon was home to Otis Redding, Little Richard, Mike Mills & Bill Berry of R.E.M, Jason Aldean, Chuck Leavell of both the Rolling Stones and Allman Bros, and many more. https://capricorn.mercer.edu/

- The Big House Museum - Tour one the several homes the Allman Brothers lived in and see all the memorabilia including Duanes’ good top Les Paul from the Layla sessions with Clapton. Album Photos were shot here too and you can get your pic taken free with the same gear. Grab a free tour map. https://thebighousemuseum.com/

- Rose Hill Cemetery - pay your respects at the resting place of Duane and Gregg Allman, Berry Oakley and Butch Trucks. The band use to hang out in the cemetery to relax and wrote several songs there based off of Head Stones. Check your map and you can find the grave of Elizabeth Reed ( in memory of Elizabeth Reed) and the grave of a 12 year old girl named Martha ( Little Martha) there are great stories that go with these graves too. Also, album photos were shot here, too at the Joseph Bond Monument. Bond was a wealthy plantation/slave owner whose also rumored to be a Vampire. There are also over 600 confederate graves, multiple senators and governors, etc.. buried here. Really cool cemetery. https://maconcommunitynews.com/2018/10/19/rose-hill-cemetery-offers-a-glimpse-into-macons-history/

- The Hay House - Beautiful 18,000 sq ft mansion built in the 1850’s by William Butler Johnston, who was the keeper of the Confederate treasury. There are rumors that the CSA treasure is still hidden in Macon. The city has underground tunnels leading from historic houses and buildings leading to other areas including the ocmulgee river. Regardless, the technology in this house was so far ahead of its time. https://www.hayhousemacon.org/history/historic-home/

-The Cannon Ball House- Another mansion built for Judge Asa Holt and the only residence in Macon to take damage during the Civil War ( a cannon ball through the window into the living room) https://www.cannonballhouse.org/history/

- The Grotto- this is really cool and also a shame that a bunch of thugs have vandalized and graffitied this place. The Grotto is a shrine that was built by the Jesuits of the old St. Stanislaus College that burned 100 years ago. https://www.tpldesign.com/grotto/

-Grants Lounge- this is where The Marshall Tucker band. Was discovered and immediately signed to Capricorn. Very rich music history Allman Bros, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty,etc... https://www.maconmusictrail.com/grants-lounge/

Ocmulgee Indian Mounds- cool national park showcasing the history and engineering techniques of the local Native Americans.
