County did just the opposite in the club I run. They raised the drain pipes a foot, beavers came in and ruined planted pines. The road washes out twice a year now and we lost 400 ac plus deer hunting.

Typical liberals. They don't want you hunting deer.

We had a similar situation.
Old wetland created from levees years ago. Govt. project i believe. The bad flood years back took out the dam. I was of the same opinion, its a wetland and needs to be restored. Nope, and the beavers are just now getting it back somewhat. Its been 20years or more. That was a tremendous duck hunting place. It would fill up every fall with true migrators. All types. No reason to leave the state. I wanted to cry when it went away. I hope yall get it back.

Oh, the beavers are there. They have lived in this spot for over 40 years that I know of, so I'm sure they will build it back. I really hate that the fish are gone, as the grandkids enjoyed them.

Update.....Left another message with EPA and never heard back. Left another message with the road maintenance supervisor and never heard back. Talked with a lady at U.S. Fish and Wildlife, who relayed info to someone, and he actually called me back. He said there is nothing they can do, since the county stayed on the road and didn't physically come onto my property. All they have to do is say they were working in the interest of public safety. So, as usual, the Gubment gets to do whatever they want to do and there is no recourse.
Just going to have to wait for the rebuild. I might help.
