I know this is not about firearms, but I got a violation notice about parking my truck off the side of my driveway. said it violated an ordinance passed in '13. My brother-in-law says that the county does not have the authority to inforce ordinances on private property, only government property. does this have the slightest bit of truth or is he full of it(as he usually is)? He also is of the opioion the unless I am involved in commerce, I do not have to have insurance or a tag on my vehicles and I do not have to posess a valid drivers liscense.

I've had Cobb county code enforcement give me a warning about a trailer beside the house. Had 30 days. So you got no warning??

I feel like there are so many laws now that we are always breaking one and it's their choice when to enforce one.

Counties can absolutely enforce ordinances on private property. They do it all the time on my clients' personal property.

The bit about commerce is made up.

Whether you violated a county ordinance cannot be answered without detail and research on the applicable code section.

Make a bet with your brother-in-law: he can go to court with you and tell the judge that the county can't enforce local ordinances on private property. He has to wash your truck every week for the next year if he is wrong.

You will enjoy having a clean truck all year long.

The county can enforce local ordinances on private property.

With Dallas in your location, I am presuming you are in Paulding:
