I painted a plain jane 10/22 carbean wood stock
dark green shortly after I got it few years ago.
Few months back realized how many camo flat
colors were in the utility room. FDE, brown,
pale green, and of course flat black. Removed
the 10/22 stock, lightly sanded & cleaned then
hung out back from a tree w/a coat hanger to
dry. Here a spray, there a spray, next thing I
know'd I had a camoflogilated 10/22 !
Actually, the stock was already off to install a
Hogue over-molded nylon stock that had arrived.
The Hogue felt okay but had such a spotty finish
I decided to send it back. Most of it was a flat finish
but stock near the butt pad became shiny and not
the same amount of shiny area on both sides. Bottom
of fore-end was shiny due to buffing (or grinding) off
seam. The camoed original stock isn't perfect but imho
it looks better than crappy finish on the Hoguey stock.
Which cost a lot more than spray paint. For their sake
hope that one was a fluke, not true representation of QC.
